Cape Cod's Only
Microgrid Provider

When the grid collapses, you thrive. Anti-fragile systems don't just survive stress — they get stronger from it. Three power sources. One intelligent brain. When the grid fails, your solar takes over. When the sun sets, your battery carries you. When the battery depletes, your generator recharges it. Each failure makes the remaining system work harder. That's anti-fragile.

Circuit Fortress Architecture
Data-center-grade power resilience, residential scale.

Fragile breaks.
Robust survives.
Anti-fragile thrives.

Home Microgrid & Residential Energy Storage — Cape Cod, MA

Nassim Taleb coined the term "anti-fragile" for systems that actually get stronger under stress. Your grid connection is fragile — one tree branch ends it. A generator alone is robust — it survives but doesn't improve.

A solar + battery + generator microgrid is anti-fragile. When the grid fails, your solar reroutes to your battery. When it's cloudy, your battery draws from stored reserves. When the battery depletes, your generator recharges it while powering your home. Each stress event activates another layer of the system. The more the grid fails, the more value your system delivers.

This is the same architecture that kept cell towers online across Africa and India for years. We call it Circuit Fortress — data-center-grade resilience, residential scale.

💀 FRAGILE
Grid power only
One tree branch on one wire = total blackout. You're at the mercy of Eversource, the weather, and aging infrastructure. When it fails, you sit in the dark and wait.
🛡️ ROBUST
Grid + standalone generator
Survives outages but at $2/kWh fuel cost, 30-second startup delay, no solar offset, no monitoring. It endures stress, but gains nothing from it.
ANTI-FRAGILE
Solar + Battery + Generator + Monitoring
Every grid failure activates your backup layers. Solar offsets fuel. Battery eliminates downtime. Generator provides infinite runtime. Monitoring catches problems before you notice. The worse the grid gets, the more valuable your system becomes.

Solar Upgrade with Battery Backup — Start with What You Have

The fastest and most common path to energy independence on Cape Cod isn't a full install — it's adding what's missing to a system that's already mostly there. Tell us what you have and we'll spec exactly what you need.

Fastest Install
You have
☀️ Solar + 🔌 Generator
Add Sol-Ark inverter + battery bank. Your solar keeps running during outages. Your generator is now integrated, Sol-Ark triggers it automatically when battery hits threshold. No more manual starts. Your solar keeps running through the outage. Works with portable or standby.
→ $18,000–$32,000 installed
High Value
You have
☀️ Solar only
Add Sol-Ark inverter + battery + generator. You already believe in solar. This adds the autonomy and backup you always assumed you had. Generator options: portable (lower cost) or standby propane (permanent, auto-start).
→ $28,000–$45,000 installed
Easy Expansion
You have
🔋 Sol-Ark + want more storage
Add additional battery modules to your existing Sol-Ark system. More autonomy, longer overnight coverage, more storm resilience. Simple expansion.
→ $8,000–$15,000 installed
Inverter Swap
You have
☀️ Solar + 🔋 Non-Sol-Ark battery
Sol-Ark inverter swap + compatibility assessment on existing battery. We'll tell you honestly if the battery is worth keeping or replacing.
→ $15,000–$28,000 installed
Add Solar
You have
🔌 Generator only
Add solar panels + Sol-Ark + battery. Your generator is the backup, not the primary. Eliminates propane dependency for everyday use.
→ $35,000–$55,000 installed
New Build
You have
🏠 Nothing yet
Full system design and install. Solar + Sol-Ark + battery + generator. Portable or standby, we spec the right option for your load and budget. One contract. One company. Built for Cape Cod.
→ $42,000–$90,000 installed

PowerUp Upgrade Products

The Problem

Your current setup has a single point of failure.

Whether you've got nothing, solar, or solar and a generator, none of it works as a single system unless someone designed it that way. Nobody on Cape Cod was doing that.

8 solar installers. 7 generator companies. Zero integrated providers. If you wanted true energy independence, you were managing 3 vendors, 3 warranties, and hoping the pieces talked to each other at 2am during a nor'easter. Most of the time, they don't.

The federal solar tax credit is also gone, expired December 31, 2025. Every company that built their pitch around a 30% credit is now scrambling. We never built the pitch around the credit. We built it around never losing power.

☀️
You have solar. You still lose power.
Standard grid-tied solar systems are required to shut down when the grid goes down, it's a safety regulation. If you have solar and no battery + Sol-Ark, your panels go dark in every outage. The house goes dark too.
⚙️
Your generator isn't a plan. It's anxiety.
30-second startup delay. $2/kWh propane. Manual start. No monitoring. No solar integration. A generator sitting in the garage is not energy independence, it's a backup to a backup that runs on expensive fuel.
📈
Eversource keeps going up
$0.349/kWh today. 5% rate increase in February 2026. At this rate you'll pay $153,000+ to Eversource over the next 25 years. That money could buy your own power plant.
🔧
Three vendors, zero coordination
Solar company, electrician, generator company. Three different contracts, warranties, and phone numbers, all pointing at each other when something goes wrong. One integration failure erases the whole system.

Sol-Ark Generator Integration & Solar Battery System — One Brain, Zero Thinking

Whether it's a new install or an upgrade, the architecture is the same: solar charges the battery, battery powers the house, generator auto-starts when needed, everything is monitored. The Sol-Ark inverter is the brain that orchestrates all of it.

☀️1
Solar Generation
Existing or new panels generate power continuously. Cloudy days included. On upgrades, your existing panels wire directly into Sol-Ark, no replacements needed.
🔋2
Battery Storage
15–30kWh LiFePO₄ bank stores excess solar. Powers your home through the night and into the next day, and keeps running when the grid goes down.
⚙️3
Generator Backup
When battery hits the threshold you set, the generator starts automatically. It runs only when needed, charges the battery, then shuts off. Your lights never flicker. Portable or standby, both work.

How It Actually Works in an Outage

Whole Home Backup Power — You Don't Survive Storms, You Don't Notice Them

The solar + battery + generator combination is more resilient than any single source of power. Each component backs up the others. That's not redundancy, that's anti-fragility.

The extended outage playbook

1
Grid goes down
Sol-Ark detects grid loss in 5ms and islands your home. Solar keeps running. Battery takes over. Nothing in the house changes.
2
Run on solar + battery
During the day, solar covers most of the load. At night, battery carries you. Drop to critical loads (refrigerator, lights, router, heat) and you're drawing 300–400W. At that rate, 15kWh of battery covers 37–50 hours before the generator is needed at all.
3
Generator cycles as needed
When battery drops to the threshold you set, the generator kicks on for a few hours, recharges the battery while powering the house. Then it shuts off. Battery and solar carry you again. It runs only when it needs to, burning fuel only when necessary.
Indefinitely self-sustaining
As long as the sun rises and you have fuel, the system sustains itself indefinitely. We've seen two-week outages in Africa where this exact architecture kept cell towers online without a single service call. The principle is identical.

Anti-fragile design

Three power sources sounds like three points of failure. It's the opposite. When the grid fails, solar takes over. When solar drops at night, battery runs it. When battery depletes, generator recharges it. Each covers the others' gaps.

The result: You don't just survive outages. You thrive during them, full power, hot food, climate control, and internet (add Starlink to complete the picture). While everyone else is calling Eversource, you're watching Netflix. This is what "anti-fragile" means in practice.

The Founder's System

Built for cell towers
in Africa. Then built at home.

From 2011 to 2015, our founder built hybrid power systems for cell towers across Africa and India. The model was the same one we're offering you now: inverter + battery + integrate with the existing generator. Diesel runtime dropped 40–60%. Payback was under a year. It was a no-brainer for anyone running a tower off-grid.

Solar came next. Same concept — solar offsets generator hours, battery bridges the gaps, generator handles whatever's left. Cell towers can't go down. So everything is designed for resilience first, independence second, cost third.

Coming back to the US, the founder expected this to be productized for homes. It wasn't. Building a personal system in Brewster, there wasn't a single company on Cape Cod that understood how the pieces worked together — let alone someone who could install them as a single system. It got done because the methodology already existed. But it shouldn't have been that hard.

That was 2023. The reference system has been running ever since. Antifragile Power Systems is that methodology — productized for you.

Cape Cod Blackout Protection

Hurricane & Storm Preparedness — Cape Cod Power Resilience

Cape Cod's peninsula geography means single-circuit power lines with no redundant paths. When a nor'easter, hurricane, or ice storm hits, Eversource outages can last days. A home microgrid is the only reliable Cape Cod blackout protection.

🌀
Hurricane Season Preparedness

Hurricane season runs June 1 – November 30. Cape Cod sits directly in the New England hurricane track. Our Sol-Ark + battery + generator systems provide indefinite runtime — solar recharges the battery during the day, generator covers extended cloudy stretches. No fuel rationing, no generator-only anxiety.

❄️
Eversource Outage Backup

The January 2026 blizzard knocked out 155,000+ Eversource connections across Barnstable County. Some areas waited 4+ days. With residential energy storage and a Sol-Ark microgrid, your home islands in 5 milliseconds — lights stay on, heat keeps running, food stays cold.

Common Questions

Cape Cod Solar Battery Backup FAQ — The Honest Answers

I already have solar. Will I need to replace my panels?
No. Sol-Ark is compatible with virtually all major panel and inverter brands, Enphase IQ8, SolarEdge, standard string inverters. Your existing panels wire directly into the Sol-Ark system. No panel replacement. The PowerUp upgrade is specifically designed to work with what you have.
Why does my solar shut off when the grid goes down?
It's a safety requirement (NEC 690.12 / IEEE 1547). Standard grid-tied inverters are designed to stop exporting power during outages so utility workers aren't injured by live lines. A Sol-Ark inverter with battery creates an islanded system, it disconnects from the grid and runs your home independently. Your solar keeps working.
What happened to the federal solar tax credit?
The residential ITC (Section 25D) expired December 31, 2025. Most solar companies' pitch was built on that 30% credit, it's gone now. The MA state credit (15%, up to $1,000) still applies, as do SMART 3.0 production payments of $0.12–0.20/kWh for 10 years. Our value was never about the credit. It was about never losing power.
What if something breaks on an upgrade?
One phone number, ours. Sol-Ark: 10-year inverter warranty. EG4 battery: 10-year warranty. Generator: manufacturer warranty (Generac 5-year standby / DuroMax 3-year portable). We coordinate all of it. Your existing panels retain their original warranties, we don't touch those.
How long does an upgrade install take?
PowerUp Core (inverter + battery, existing solar + gen) is typically a 1–2 day install. PowerUp Complete adds a generator, which adds 1–2 days depending on propane/LP access. Full new installs run 3–5 days total. We provide a detailed timeline at the design stage.
Is the upgrade worth it if I already have a working system?
Depends on your existing system state. If you have solar + generator and the PowerUp Core costs you $20K, you'll save $2,000/year on Eversource bills (your solar now covers overnight loads via battery). That's a 10-year payback, plus your solar stops going dark in every storm. We'll tell you honestly if the math doesn't work for your situation.
Can I buy the equipment myself and just hire your electrician?
Yes. We can provide you with a detailed system estimate, the exact equipment list, and sourcing recommendations. You purchase the Sol-Ark, batteries, and other components directly from distributors like Signature Solar, and then hire our licensed electrician for the installation. This is a great option if you want to save on markup and are comfortable managing procurement yourself. We'll still design the system and make sure everything is spec'd correctly before you buy.
Are you actually local?
We're based in Brewster. We work with licensed Cape Cod electricians who know every town's building department. Every install, we're personally on-site or on-call. When something needs attention, you're not calling a national warranty center.
Can I come see your system in person?
Yes. We'll show you the Sol-Ark dashboard, the MySolArk cloud monitoring, the battery bank, the generator auto-transfer in action, and real Eversource bills before and after. No pressure — it's a system demo, not a sales call. Fill out the estimate form and mention you'd like to schedule a visit.
